An indoor percussion ensemble consists of the marching percussion (or battery) and front ensemble (or pit) sections of a marching band. Indoor Percussion marries elements of music performance, marching, and theater. Although most indoor percussion ensembles are affiliated with high schools, there are also many independent groups that draw participants from a large area. The activity is sometimes called Winter Percussion due to the season in which it mostly occurs.
Indoor Percussion Ensemble at Croatan High School runs from mid-November through early April. Students in the ensemble come from all areas of the band, not just the percussion section. Our indoor percussion ensemble practices strictly after school, typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:30pm - 6:00pm. We are members of the Atlantic Indoor Association (AIA).
